The National Park Service (NPS) said in a press release that park rangers rescued a 42-year-old man from Belgium who had been taking a ‘short walk’ in flip-flops when he lost his shoes and suffered ‘full-thickness burns on his feet’ in Death Valley’s Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes on Saturday, July 20.
